The Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the department; organizes and supervises the department’s ongoing functions. Assures the department complies with hospital policies and the standards that govern the specialty.
Maintains regulatory compliance on both the federal and state level.
Maintains compliance with Trauma designation and is the ongoing liaison among professional staff, Medical staff and emergency services personnel.
The Director manages all of the operational aspects of patient care to all ages and cultural backgrounds.
Collaborates with staff, Materials Management, physicians, and others to evaluate new products and procedures.
Collaborates with administrative and support services in the planning and implementation of the overall organization mission and values.
Responsible for professional staffing and budgeting of Emergency Department.
Works one clinical shift per week in order to maintain clinical skills, or more as needed when schedule dictates.
May also be asked to help out on the floor if patient loads increase during the day unexpectedly.
Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing required. Masters is preferred.
Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in emergency/critical care.
Minimum of three (3) years of clinical supervisory or management experience.
Previous experience as an Emergency Department Director preferred.
Extensive knowledge and understanding of Federal and State laws and guidelines pertaining to EMTALA, Trauma, Cardiac and related emergency services.
RN License current in the state of Colorado or compact state. Current BLS and TNCC certification, ACLS, PALS or ENPC and NRP maintenance expected. CEN is preferred.
